Week 23 - Amy

Week 23
Well, this week was Halloween. We let the kids go trick-or-treating for the first time this year. Our town has trick-or-treating at the downtown businesses, so that's what we took the kids to. Tirion was so excited about it that she would start skipping as soon as she saw the next open door. When she came out she would say, with great excitement, "Daddy, I got candy!!" Shane and I giggled the whole time. Half of my pictures are from that one event. Tirion was a super hero (she just wanted to wear a cape), Dag was the Incredible Hulk and Kieric claimed that he was a bow assassin (he had on a hooded robe and carried a bow and arrow, he looked like friar Tuck).

Orange
I just loved how the leaves looked on the path.
Candy
This was the candy bowl at the Rainbow Cafe.
Scary
This was a kid that was trick-or-treating downtown. I thought his costume was pretty scary, so I asked him if I could take his picture.
Night
I love how the clouds moving in front of the moon look like a bird.
Costume
I couldn't believe how many people commented on Dag's Hulk costume. He was a real hit. Several of the people giving out candy just had the kids pick their own out of the bowl. Dag couldn't do that because of his fists. They would ask him which one he wanted so that they could get it for him. Then he would try to point with his fist at a piece of candy. It was pretty comical.
Glow
The morning sun coming up over the buildings on our street.
Excitement
Tirion has finally started to take to potty training. She was completely dry and clean all day on Saturday. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and the end to diapers. Hooray!!

Weeks 22 & 23 - Melissa

Yep, that's right.  I am posting two weeks this time.  Last week got away from me (as it always does) with the combination of Halloween and Tyler's birthday.  Hopefully with things settling down a little (before the next set of holidays) I'll be back on track.  These photos were taken over the last two weeks but not in the particular week's order.  I just was not that organized - which is also why these were all taken by my phone.

Un(Tradition)al

My mother came to Michigan during the fall.  This never happens.  She was a bit upset that it sleeted a little while she was here and it was WAY too cold but she had a great time visiting the kids for Halloween and Tyler's birthday.  Of course the kids loved having her here for the festivities too.

Our newest neighbor's version of lawn flamingos.  (Sam found out he got them at Marshalls.)

Tricks

Taken November 3rd, this was my trip home from work.  It obviously didn't stay (first snow never does) but it still seems too early.

I thought about putting up a picture of the pumpkins but then I remembered this.  Chris made cheddar potato soup with ham and bacon.  It was super yummy and it is definately soup weather.

2. Two teeth
3. Triangle eyes
4. Triangle noses

Sam decided to put on part of Tyler's costume (Nerdy Hawaiian) in combination with the face painting he got from the BRI's Harvest Party.

Black/Glow/Night

The beautiful full moon made such a cool glow on the clouds in the black night sky. This is a little grainy because I took it with my phone. It was super windy and hard to focus but I am happy with how it turned out (considering the circumstances.)

Week 22
Late again, but at least it is before the start of a new week.

Tradition
It is a tradition to get your picture taken on the bridge in front of Multnomah Falls.

Black
Charlie, our black dachshund, sitting in his favorite chair.

Strange
I thought it was pretty fantastic and strange how the leaves had been stained onto the cement.

Tricks
Tirion did not want to have her picture taken, so she crawled behind the couch, laughing the whole time.

Treats
Tirion, enjoying a treat of a raspberry-filled, powdered doughnut.

Harvest
This is a very small pumpkin that is in one of the planters on Main Street in downtown Pendleton.

Child's Point of View
The kids could see themselves with the web-cam on my laptop. They were having all kinds of fun.

Week Twenty-Two: Ashli

This week was fun, I enjoyed the beautiful weather and the festivities of Halloween.  We got our shorts out for the last time this year and the boys got to wear their costumes for the first time too.

Tradition:
I carried out my mom's tradition this year by making the boys Halloween costumes myself.  I think they turned out pretty well.

Saturday we carved our pumpkins, which in our house means the children pick out the most intricate designs and the parents end up with carpal tunnel!

The finished product - this is what Caleb picked.  I'm happy with the result!

Black (and white):

Iris was having a little chat with the pumpkin.

Tricks:

On Saturday, a cruel trick was played on me.  My beloved iPhone fell into the toilet.  This is how it has spent the last three days.  Thankfully, today it was unearthed from the rice and it still works!!!

Treats:

Pumpkin cookies the boys and I made on a rainy day.
I have spent the week trying to keep little hands out of the Halloween candy.  Not very successfully, as this picture reveals.

Harvest:

We harvested the seeds from all of our pumpkins to roast - this may be my favorite part of Halloween.

Child's Point of View:

We had a very warm, windy day on Thursday so we flew our kite.
Caleb learned how to fly the kite himself - he was having a blast!
