Week Seven - Melissa

Mommy Time-
For me, this usually still comes with kids.  My youngest goes to summer preschool during the older two's swim school time.  This allows me to sit on the beach (with the other moms) and enjoy the hum of kids playing and maybe have an adult conversation or two.

 GREEN -
The first picture is from my garden.  I had all but given up on this special lily that I purchased two years ago from the Farmer's Market.  Oh, how happy am I to finally see it ready to bloom this year!  The second picture is from a field on my drive to work.  If I catch the timing right as the sun is setting, there are so many shades and shadows - it is one of my favorite spots along the way.  (It is also just before Ashli's parent's house.)

My CIRCLES -
I love the sunsets at Michigan Beach in Charlevoix.  There was a van of people waiting for the "green flash" and wanted me to get rid of the clouds that were ruining it for them.

The purple flowers are globe thistle at my in-laws house.  They are usually buzzing with bees so I caught this picture at a good time. Mine are not in bloom yet, but soon.

 Low light/Quiet time -
This morning, I decided to skip the traffic and construction of Boyne City Road and took the Ironton Ferry.  I was the only one on the boat and the Captain let me get out and snap a few shots.  I forget how peaceful the lake is at sunrise.

 PLAYTIME -
The first photo is of my oldest (floating) playing in the water with his friend Caden waiting for his swim school class to start.

The second is from tonight's Stroll the Streets with Boyne Thunder.  The Poker Run is tomorrow (Saturday) but somehow I think I will be a bit busy with the kids this weekend to take and/or post more photos.  Maybe I'll be able to add a few more - we'll see.

Week Six - Ashli

My week was filled with activity and therefore, lots of opportunities for photography! We had company, a holiday, a road trip, camping and a family party.  Here is what I came up with:
  Hello or Goodbye (Goodbye):
The boys did not want to leave the party, even though it was over.  They wanted to keep swimming and playing with their "Friends," a.k.a. cousins

Animals:
This little guy was very active and hard to catch, but I finally got a good shot of him at our campsite.
These turkeys were crossing the road on our way to my Grandma's cottage
One of several deer we saw over the weekend.  Strangely enough, they were all out during the day.

Off Road:
While we were camping in Presque Isle we took a little road trip to Ocqueoc Falls.  It is a little roadside park where you can jump in the river and swim.  The boys had such a blast!  I had some better action shots than this, but most contained many half naked swimmer that detracted greatly from the photo.  Here is Caleb about to jump off the rock ledge.

A kid (not mine):
This is my friend Kristen's little girl Corinne.  Their whole family came to visit us for the 4th of July.  This is her, post-nap playing a game on her dads phone.  I love that she is wearing her PJ's and leggings despite the fact that it was about 4:00 in the afternoon and about 98 degrees outside!

Food

"Where did your camera come from Mom?" Travis looked in wonder.  "This is dinner time not Photo time." added Ben. I than quickly agreed and put the camera away, but not until after capturing my Travis flashing me his all to often smirks.

Mommies  Favorite Food!!

Brats on the grill and a very yummy summer salad. I LOVE this time of year!

Hello and Goodbye!!

While at the carnival the boys loved riding the train.
Hello......Goodbye......Hello........Goodbye.......as it goes around and around and around.

Something Patriotic

What screams more patriotic other than a flag?? Yes, that would be the amazing Manistee fireworks. I'm still trying to edit my flag photos. May still post in a couple of days. I hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July!!
For good results set your camera up on a tripod and use the bulb setting on your camera. Another great tip learned in my photography classes.
