Week 11 - Anne

Hello Friends!  It was another crazy week for the Horton-Weis Family.  Luckily, I have awesome Parents-In-Law who made sure that I got a break here and there this week as I was home alone all week with a sick baby.  Boy, were we glad when Daddy got home!

               Water

I took a few hours off from being a Mommy and went to a wonderful beach to catch some rays by the ocean.  You can see the Golden Gate Bridge peaking out of the morning fog in this shot.  Can you see the blimp roaming around up there?

                                                                                                         Sun

I was not able to get a sun shot that I really loved, so I grabbed a shot of this beautiful Ethiopian basket that we have hanging in our kitchen.  It always feels like sunshine to me.

                              Sand

This is another shot from my beach excursion (I'm still sunburned!). The remnants of a once wonderful sand castle.

                                                                                                          Barefoot

This is a fun family foot photograph!  Say that 5 times fast!

                Cool Drink

I love Carmel Frapachinos... but our budget doesn't lend itself to such a splurge very often.  I've been making them at home now... with Splenda!  And I've discovered the trick to making them.  I ordered some Xanthum Gum (a corn biproduct) and add a pinch to keep the coffe and frappe from separating

                                                                 Growing

We had a Mommy and Daddy Morning Dove take up residence in one of my empty plant pots.  Top left is the last shot taken... and egg that didn't develop.  Then, there is Mommy and one of the babies (I assume the other is underneath her), and then the two babies, hours before they took off to explore the world.

                                                                  Chillin'
We celebrated Max's 8 month birthday with a trip to the park... and his first experience in the swing!  He looks excited here... but he wasn't that interested.  He would rather have spent his time flirting with the little girl next to us.

Week Eleven - Amy

Water
Kieric got to go in the dive pool at the Aquatic Center for the first time this week. He is finally able to swim well enough that I trust him in that deep of water. He went off all the diving boards (including the high dive) and the drop slide. I took pictures of him on each one and he decided that I should get in on the fun of the dive pool and he should get in on the fun of taking pictures. He asked me to go off the high dive first. When I was up there, he said to do a cannon ball. I told him I was too old to do a cannon ball, but truth be told, I was terrified to do anything more than jump straight off from that height. So when I went off the lower spring board I gave him something to get excited about and he caught it on film. He thought his mom was cool doing the splits in the air.

Sun
The sun through the trees across the street as it begins it's decent for the evening.

Sand
The closest thing I got to sand this week was sanding my feet after being at the pool all day.

Barefoot
Tirion's wrinkly prune feet after her bath.

Cool Drink
Dag drinking a Capri Sun at our picnic at the pool. It was very hot and he enjoyed his cool drink.

Growing
This is the Trumpeter Vine that grows on the trellis on the side of our porch. It grows like crazy and has been popping up in the yard this year. It's a beautiful plant, but is becoming a nuisance.

Chillin'
I've always wanted to go to an Aerosmith concert and I finally made it happen this week. My friend Terri and I drove to Tacoma to watch them. We had great seats! There was no one in front of us, so we didn't have to stand for the whole concert. We got to chill in our seats and enjoy the show. He may be old, but Steven Tyler can still rock a stage. And...I got a t-shirt.

Week 11 - Aisha

Week 11

Week eleven was not as busy as the last few. I got a lot of time in at the hotel, time with my boys and some photography clients taken care of as well. Here is small look at my week.

WATER (see above)
Here is Ben and Travis looking out at Lake Michigan. We are only about 7 miles from our house. We are blessed with some of the best God has to offer in our neck of the woods.

WATER take two (see above)
Teamwork Brother style. (this means big brother getting to do the fun stuff and little brother getting stuck holding the cup) Getting some water after a nice walk through the woods. Bummer part was..... the well was dry. Had water a month ago, we will have to give it a try in the rainy months.

 SUN (see above)
This is a wedding set up I was photographing for a client. It was so beautiful and the colors were amazing. This is my interpretation of "Sun". When I walked into this room I was instantly happy, a feeling the sun can give you as well. Plus, the obvious yellow color! :)

GROWING (see above)
Ben and Travis on our Sunday walk through the woods. Walking behind them hand and hand with my husband, we just look at them and wonder how did they get so big!

Chillin' (see above)
This is story time before lights out. Daddy reading Olivia starter books with Ben and Travis. Warms my heart every time I see this. Glad I got myself up to go take a shot with my camera. One of those things you love to see every night but never photograph. ♥

COOL DRINK (see above)
Self explanatory :)

Ashli - Week Eleven

Once again, I didn't think I had many photos for the week, but when I downloaded them onto the computer, they magically appeared!  I got six out of the seven, which is pretty amazing since it was a summer/beachy theme and it finally rained here for two and a half days!  I'm not complaining though, the rain was VERY much needed.  Here are my photos!

Water: I took the boys and my neighbor's two daughters to the water park on Wednesday.  We all had a great time, but Quinn was especially adorable enjoying all the different features in the splash park.
Quinn loving the "rain"

Checking out the tunnel

I love how the water looks so crystal clear and refreshing in this one.  Not a great expression on his face but very Quinn-ish
Sun: Glad I captured these photos during the first few days of the week when there actually was some sun!
Using the pinhole feature on my camera

I know this isn't technically sun, but I just love this photo and had to include it.  The kids were playing with water beads and I was playing with my camera - pretty neat huh?
Sand: Self explanatory, and the only photo I had to kind of stage.
We were supposed to go to the beach on Thursday but it rained all day, so the sand box will have to suffice
Barefoot: This is probably NOT what you were expecting for barefoot, but hey, he's got six of 'em and he's not wearing any shoes!
I think this is either a young cicada or a leaf hopper.  Can't be sure.  Not a grasshopper because it doesn't have the big back legs.  Anybody know?
Growing: My boys are growing up too fast!  Their first trip to the dentist went better than I could have imagined!
Caleb went first - he was a little nervous in the waiting room, but he did great

I had to stop taking pictures because Quinn kept trying to look at the camera
Chilling: I took these two photos while were taking one of our daily walks around the neighborhood.
We stopped to rest in the shade for a minute because Quinn was tired of pedaling his tricycle

Caught this little guy with an acorn in his mouth - just hanging out on our neighbor's driveway. I like how he's silhouetted against the green leaves.

The List Week 12

I can't believe we have been doing this blog for 12 weeks already! The summer is flying by. This week I decided to go with a color theme, and, just to make it interesting I threw in something else all of us probably enjoy-- Movies! So feel free to take your pics based on the color, or the movie, theme/plot/characters, or both/all! Have fun this week!

Monday - The Hunt for Red October
Tuesday - A Clockwork Orange
Wednesday - GoldenEye
Thursday - Fried Green Tomatoes
Friday - The Blues Brothers
Saturday - The Color Purple
Sunday - Single White Female

Week 11 - Melissa

WATER

Oh, how to choose when these last two weeks have been all about water fun.  This week, between the boating in Lake Superior and all the waterfalls and streams how do I choose?  Here are a few of my favorites:

SUN

On our way back from Munising, I realized we would be crossing the bridge at sunset.  This was the photo I planned on getting but then...

I was lucky enough to have a rainstorm moving across the islands and the sun reflected this double rainbow.  It was a matter of being in the right place at the right time.  I couldn't choose between these two photos, the first with the colors of the sky and the second with the sun's reflection on the boat.

SAND

A shipwreck resting on the sandy shore.

BAREFOOT

Purple sands on the Lake Superior at Picture Rocks National Shoreline.  This is Sam's (age 6) bare foot.

GROWING

The saying is "children grow like weeds" but I believe my children are getting as big as trees.  Here is my youngest (turning 5 next week) playing peek-a-boo behind a very large tree on the path to Wagner Falls in Munising.
