Morning Time
The construction is on again on Boyne City Road and now on M66 also making travel to and from Charlevoix a bit of a challenge. It makes the wait time just a little shorter. Here is the Ironton Ferry at sunrise.
School Supplies
I actually have a drawer of school supplies. I have found that my boys "need" things periodically throughout the year and mostly let me know the night before. When there are great sales on crayons, colored pencils, glue sticks, notebooks, etc. I generally pick up a handful of each and toss them in the stash.
Outside
We took a hike at a new adventure spot at the Hill Preserve this week. We were surprised to find the views of the lake.
End of Summer
The leaves are changing up north! It won't be long before the full color is here!
Hair-do
We spent Sunday on a random road trip and ended up having a picnic at Brimley State Park. Sam decided to prove he could swim underwater in Lake Superior - but not without getting a head full of sand. This is his "do" after hand-brushing the sand out. (This also falls into the "attitude" category.)
Attitude
Brotherly attitude here... They were fighting about how to and who was bringing the kayak up from shore. A few minutes before, they were having so much fun...As a self proclaimed "pre-teen" there are struggles to realize when Mom and Dad say we are going on an adventure, that means a good time. There is some whining and complaining but low and behold, without fail, fun is had by all in the end.
Bonus Shots!
Just for Aisha, I took a few "extra" photos for fun.
Rule: Leading lines
This is a very pretty pine (I believe a blue spruce) from our hike at The Hill Preserve.
Rule: Rule of thirds
OK, so this isn't so much "rule of thirds" but a third of the moon. Ha ha!! It was so bright this night so I couldn't help myself. The photo isn't as clear as my full moon pictures but I didn't have a post to rest the camera on. I took this out the car window. (Yes, I was stopped.)
In an attempt to replicate (not duplicate) that gorgeous church photo of Aisha's, here is the Pt. Iroquois Lighthouse. This shows both Rule of Thirds and Leading lines.
Great job on the leading lines!! I loved all you photos this week, even the Moon photo...yes, I guess its a third of the moon but the concept is not in use there! ;) That is a great idea for the school supply drawer. I have a kindergartner this year so the full time school thing is just starting for me. Your morning time photo is amazing! LOVE it!! Great job using both concepts in it! :)
ReplyDeleteI knew it wasn't really rule of thirds but I couldn't help posting it. ;) Thank you for the "love."
DeleteI love your morning time picture, so pretty.. and the kids' attitudes shot, hilarious.. I can picture them getting along fine just seconds before you snapped the picture! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I do know how other children's attitudes are funny - when it is your own, it is SOOO tiring. :) Maybe we need to get back to school more than I thought?
DeleteJust a little note... The Attitude photo is a perfect example of the rule of thirds. The Outside photo, a little to much on the edge. The kids are on the very, very, edge of the photo it kind of throws off the balance. Just my constructive criticism. I now you have had a love for photography for some time Melissa. Please return the favor and really let me know what you think. I too love to grow and look for others thoughts and ideas. I would rather your comments on how I can improve than just the I like, I like, I like all the time. I do LOVE hearing it but would like the other thoughts as well! :)
ReplyDeleteWith the Outside photo, how do you get just-5 and almost-7 year olds to move to the left and just a little? lol It turned out that it is almost two photos, one of the lake and one of the boys, but I still like it.
DeleteThank you for your constructive criticism.
Nice photos, this week! You just had to post before me, though! (must be a sister competition)
ReplyDeleteWhat?! Competition?! Ha ha ha!!! I like that I get an Instagram peek to your pics!
DeleteLove the morning time shot! The color on the leaves for end of summer are great. I can't believe that they have changed that much already.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The color is still spotty but usually starts changing the last week in August.
